Fall Colors

January 16

I am thankful for fall colors. Although fall colors in Louisiana, when and if they occur, are more likely to be in December than as early as September-October in the north. They are around if you are on the lookout for them. It seems like they have been more visible in the last ten years or so, but that may be just me noticing them more. Anyway, fall colors make for great photo ops!

This branch of brightly plumed leaves in full fall color outside my house was angled away from me creating a difficult task of keeping all the leaves in focus.  The solution I decided on was to create a composite of six photos, each taken with selective focusing on a different section of the plant. The photos were aligned and merged in Photoshop to preserve the sharpness of the leaves.

fall colors

nature’s last hurrah

comes just before she goes out

she makes a great stance

nature’s last hurrah

nature’s last shout

red yellow and orange

and all shades between

the colors are not mild

the brightest you’ve seen

not weak or pastel

more flashy than meek

she’s says notice me

it’s your attention i seek

you can’t ignore nature

in this spectacular show

fall colors tantalize

with pure vividness aglow.
