My Son John

my son johnJanuary 29

I am thankful for my son John. John is my heart and soul. He is a very talented musician and artist. He is a band member, a recording engineer, a sound board engineer, a person that sets up sound systems, and has many other talents. He plays the electric guitar, bass, and other instruments. He is pictured above with his upright bass. We used to call ourselves "Two Buddies." Here is a poem I wrote many years ago:

for john (you'll just never know)

long ago, seems so long ago

there was a day

along you came into my life

and along the way

things would never be the same

where once there was i

now there is you

where once there was my

now there are two

and you'll never know how much i love you

you'll just never know

winds will blow

the skies will snow

but you'll just never know.

your pain is my pain

your sad is my sad

your joy is my joy

your mad, my mad

and it doesn't matter

what you do

or what you don't do

it will always be the same

it doesn't matter

for i'll always love you.

it was the happiest day

that day you came

and on that day i was born too

and things would never be the same

where once there was i

now there is you

where once there was my

now there are two

and you'll never know how much i love you

you'll just never know

winds will blow

the skies will snow

but you'll just never know.

Thanks, Gay. You got me thinking-he is the age I was when he was born. I'm glad I don't feel as old as I am! I will ask him about a song...he put one of the poems I wrote in high school to music many years ago and performed it a couple of times during his short-lived solo career-it was called Submarine Katy the Guitar Lady!

I love this photo of John! It is still hard for me to look at him as a grown man and try to see that precious little boy I knew. The poem is wonderful and would make wonderful lyrics to a song - who knows, maybe John will write it!!
