Warmth

November 27warmth,fire pit,white lights nights

I am thankful for warmth. I think warm is one of my favorite words. It implies enjoyment, comfort, and closeness. I remember when I was growing up in Indiana. When it was freezing cold in the winter, I used to get dressed over the floor heater vents because of the warmth emanating from them. There is nothing better than warm when you are cold. A warm coat, a warm blanket, a fire. Warm takes the chill away and replaces it with contentment.

The photo above was taken at White Lights Nights this past Friday. It was rather cold outside (at least by Baton Rouge standards) and this fire was blazing in this fire pit (or cast iron jambalaya pot, if you prefer). People were gathered around it soaking in the warmth.

warmth

when we hold each other close

in a sweet and tender hug

i feel the warmth of you

addictively as a drug

it’s the warmth of your heart

as i feel you near

a forever reminder of your love

so special and dear
