Arsenals

May 25

I am thankful for arsenals, which are a collection of available resources. In the military view, an arsenal is a place to store arms or explosives. Although the photo is a military storage place, I am describing the arsenal of available resources that each of us stores within ourselves or a place where we know we can obtain those resources. It is our resources that make us multifaceted individuals. Resources such as talent, intelligence, character, duty, education, creativity, fine motor skills, etc., make us individuals capable of surprising things.

This photo is of the Old Arsenal on the grounds of the Louisiana State Capitol. This building was built around 1838 and was used to store gunpowder before and during the Civil War. Later, the building was used by Louisiana State University before becoming the museum that it is now. The brick walls of the arsenal building are four and a half feet thick to reduce the likelihood of a serious accident if some of the explosives stored in the arsenal were ignited.
