Daylilies

June 9

I am thankful for daylilies. They are really beautiful flowers and by now you should know that I love most flowers.

Today's photo continues the theme begun in yesterday's blog about daylilies. This particular day lily is in my front yard soon after a rain shower. It got my attention because it seems to have taken the shape of a swan. So I will call this my "swan lily". It is a composite of four macro photos, with selective focusing to try to increase the depth of field. The photos were then combined and edited in Photoshop.

ode to a daylily

ode to a daylily

with colorful petals and sepals

standing tall and stately

like the grandest cathedral steeples

opening up a first light

but shut down and closed

when the day turns into night

early to bed

and then early to rise

oh that fine daylily

it comes as no surprise.
