Reminders

July 23

I am thankful for reminders, those things that remind us of what was, what could be, or what could happen if...  Places of historical interest are wonderful reminders of something good or something bad that happened. The ruins of Rome and Greece are reminders that a civilization, once mightly, can quickly fall into ruins should we not be careful.

This is a photo taken in front of the LSU Rural Life Museum. The broken columns, which remind me of Grecian ruins, are actually old columns from the Hill Memorial Library at LSU (LSU's first library).  I like that there is a rose bush full of flowers in front, symbolic to me of the fact that nature can last much longer than the frivolities of man.

reminders

i find reminders on the refrigerator

they are posted on the wall

more todo lists i see

that not slyly to me call

meant for me i suppose

or of some OCD hand

which are carefully written

for their compulsion to land

but in my mind

and in my best guess probability

they are meant for me because

of my absentminded mentality.
