Mornings

September 27morning,morning glory

I am thankful for mornings. Each day we have the opportunity to begin again and it all begins with the morning (unless we are the kind that sleeps during the day). I think it is important that we approach each new day enthusiastically and think that it is a chance to do new and great things. I realize, that most days tend to go like the one before them and the one after them. But that doesn't mean we can't get excited for a new day and the potential that it holds.

It's funny because my wife Bebe and I are pretty much opposites when it comes to mornings. I am a morning person, I suppose, and she is definitely not. I suppose that is an understatement. So maybe my message will fall on many deaf ears. But if you are one of those people, take a tip from me: as soon as you wake up, have one or two cups of coffee or a stiff dose of an energy drink! Then you can become your early morning sociable self.

This is a morning glory flower which I found next to my church. I've taken several photos of these flowers over the past few years. The other evening I went and found that all the flowers were closed up. Oh yeah, rt, that's why they call them morning glories! In the evening they curl up and close. So I decided to use this flower to represent mornings.

morning glory

morning glory trumpets its message

out over the silvery dew

wake up wake up you sleepy head

the planet warmly waits for you

for daylight has just begun

to open its wings to fly

soaring into possibility and discovery

many chances to glorify.
