Welcome to the rt tulley photography blogIt features photos, text, and poetry.October 11Oceans
I am thankful for oceans. I love gazing out at the sea with the waves rhythmically coming in. There is a somewhat unknown-ness out there over the horizon and the sea. Our dreams can be likened to the ocean: vast, daunting, mysterious, adventurous, an unknown future, and yet loaded with untold possibilities and hope.
This photo was taken at Clearwater Beach Florida. It's one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. The water is so blue/aqua and the beach is crystal white. The perfect place to dream and ponder.
I wrote the following poems in 1997. The first one is sort of depressing, so I then wrote the second one as an answer because I am the eternal optimist. I refuse to allow dismal thoughts take root for long.
horizons
on the edge of the horizon lies a mystical magical place where hope and love lie in wait invisible except for a trace there are horizons we can see out there beyond the edge of obtainable beyond the edge of reality beyond the edge of reachable horizons, they're just visible enough to make us reach out for them the dangling carrot in front of the donkey forever enticing unsuspecting men and of those who sail over the edge few ever return to tell the tale their sails disappear over the horizon leaving behind the ones that fail. © rt tulley
horizon seeker
help me be a horizon seeker teach me how not to fail i want to go over the far horizons i want to go full sail maybe i can do it maybe all it takes is desire the will to make it the urge to go even higher it does no good to sit and talk it does no good to complain adapt to the unexpected changes and grab that horse by the reigns help me be a horizon seeker and spit in the face of failure ride upon the back of opportunity over and around that far curvature. © rt tulley
October 10Field Trips
I am thankful for field trips. I'll define a field trip as a within-day trip to a place for pleasure, sight seeing, or with a particular assignment in mind. I enjoy making the occasional side trip. They are a relief from the routine but don't carry with them the hassle of a longer vacation.
This photo was taken in the French Quarter in New Orleans of a horse drawn carriage. I thought that it represented the idea of a field trip very well.
