Welcome to the rt tulley photography blogIt features photos, text, and poetry.November 30Celebrations
I am thankful for celebrations. Celebrations naturally follow something of memorable significance. So celebrations have a revered spot on our minds. But they are also a way to acknowledge milestones and have fun. Therefore, celebrations are momentous occasions.
I found this sidewalk "art" in downtown Breaux Bridge. Although, I am sure that the children who did this did not do it in celebration of any thing, it still struck me as being celebratory in nature so I linked it with this theme.

I am thankful for feasts. Although I generally do not enjoy gorging myself, I do enjoy the company and celebratory atmosphere that feasts connotate. Thanksgiving meal is always an overindulgence to an extent, although I make it a point to get small servings of each item. However, this Thanksgiving had multiple items so it proved the point that small amounts of a lot of items add up to a lot in total bulk.
This is a photo of a basket of spoons and other cooking utensils, with the dining room table and chairs await the feast in the background.

whilst pondering life’s many mysteries in repose upon my chamber pot a thought occurred to me as i there upon diligently sought perhaps there is more to say in what better way can i describe that perhaps it is better to expel than ingest and imbibe. © rt tulley November 28Thanksgiving
I am thankful for Thanksgiving. It may seem like overkill to be thankful for being thankful. But it is so true. Thankfulness is a state of mind. When you find so many things to be thankful of, there comes a time when you are thankful for being able just to do that. Our country has set aside one day a year in which we feast to our blessings. It is a magnificent gesture.
My friends Anne and Hawley Wolfe had a tradition at their house when their children were young to fill a jar with notes of the things they were thankful for. Then, at specified times they would pull one out and read it aloud to remind themselves of all their blessings. They called it their Thankful Jar. When they told me about that tradition, I loved it so much I wanted to reproduce it for this blog. So I filled this jar with all the blog topics up to this point (331 in all) and snapped away with the camera.
In keeping with the food portion of Thanksgiving, I leave you with a photo taken at a local food market of some pale pumpkins.

to be thankful for being so thankful is a sign that the jar is nearly full so many things for which to feel most blessed thankful for being thankful we sincerely express. © rt tulley November 27Warmth
I am thankful for warmth. I think warm is one of my favorite words. It implies enjoyment, comfort, and closeness. I remember when I was growing up in Indiana. When it was freezing cold in the winter, I used to get dressed over the floor heater vents because of the warmth emanating from them. There is nothing better than warm when you are cold. A warm coat, a warm blanket, a fire. Warm takes the chill away and replaces it with contentment.
The photo above was taken at White Lights Nights this past Friday. It was rather cold outside (at least by Baton Rouge standards) and this fire was blazing in this fire pit (or cast iron jambalaya pot, if you prefer). People were gathered around it soaking in the warmth.

I am thankful for laughter. Laughter eases the pressure off our minds and bodies and helps us relax. According to Wikipedia, laughter bonds us and causes acceptance and positive feelings among we humans. As a matter of fact, it's just plain fun to share a laugh.
My wife Bebe, our friend Sylvia, and myself attended White Lights Nights art festival in Midcity Baton Rouge this past Friday. We were in one store and went into a back room and found this hair dresser's workstation. Bebe and Sylvia decided to clown around and have a little fun by posing for a picture at the hair washing station. The hose began leaking water, so Sylvia really did get wet. We all had a good laugh. I'm glad I was able to catch this little playful and humerus moment.
