Trouble

In all honesty, I cannot say that I am thankful for trouble. But I am thankful for what trouble can teach us and for the opportunity to recover from trouble, and even rise above it. Adversity is often required for us to shake the status quo. Often, trouble follows certain people around. That is either by no fault or cause of those people or, more often than not, because of what those people do. In other words, in those cases, trouble happens because of their foibles. These people usually do not understand that trouble is of their own making. They believe it is because of other people or just bad luck. But those of us who can truly analyze trends and continue to have repeating troubles often realize what needs to be changed to prevent further troubles. And thus we learn.

This is another author I met at the Louisiana Book Festival this past Saturday. Her name is Gwen Carriere and the name of her book is Trouble Comes in on Horseback & Leaves Out on a Snail. Gwen was a wonderful, energetic, and inspirational woman. She told me that the title of her book came from a saying of her mother's. Isn't it true how trouble comes zooming in and takes its time about leaving!

trouble

trouble follows us

like a balloon on a string

no matter which way you turn

to you that balloon does cling

why oh why or why

does trouble continue to stay

you turn left and right

but you cannot keep it at bay

but the secret of beating trouble

is learn your lesson learned

bring with you a needle

and pop it ‘til it’s spurned.
