Picnics

March 28

I am thankful for picnics. Picinics offer us a time to get away from the normal routine, eat, and enjoy friends and family in a different setting.

This photo was taken at University Lake on a foggy morning. I liked the way the ducks commandeered the picnic table for their own use. They enjoy picinics too!

beanfoot

they call me beanfoot

and here’s the reason why

we were going to have a picnic

with friends, family, and i

it was to be at a lake

thirty miles away

so we prepared by cooking and packing

for our holiday

we jumped into our automobile

toward our destination

we were all filled with joy

and great anticipation

i sat in the front

next to my dad whom i had to inform

that somewhere along the way

my foot was feeling a little bit warm

we looked down

and were surprised by what was seen

my foot was placed comfortably

in the pot of hot baked beans

my shoe was removed

and held out the side window

i was totally embarrassed

but still played with my new bow

we arrived at the lake

and quickly jumped out of the door

the lunch was good and the baked beans

had a great shoe leather flavor

so beanfoot i am

and beanfoot i’ll always be

once you have a nickname

it is your identity.
