Soul Mates/Marriage

I am thankful for soul mates and marriage. Having someone with whom you can share important happenings in your life, someone with whom you feel happy for their successes and cry with in their failures and disappointments, allows us to go through life not alone. This year marks Bebe and my 40th year being married. There have been plenty of rocky times but overall it has been great. And having someone who cares for you and having someone you care about is much better than isolation. It's funny, how Bebe and I are very different people, and yet we think alike. We often think the same things at the same time. I always know her feeling about something and she mine, without asking.

The photo is of two leaves, lit by the sun, intertwined in a heart-like shape, in contrast to the other leaves around it. When I reviewed the photo I realized it was symbolic for soul mates and/or marriage. How our partner can protect us from the multitudes around us in a common adventure is pretty amazing to me. Yes, we are in life with everybody else, but we are distinct from them, and having someone with common goals, interests, and likes makes life worth living.

two hearts clinging to

each other like this

it’s amazing how sometimes

one can come from two

then at other times

it’s a worn out shoe

still other times

it’s like an old unpaired sock

recovery will take a while

but with the other will dock.
