Sense of Sight

May 31

I am thankful for the sense of sight and the eyes. Being able to see the world is a great gift, especially for artists and photographers.

I was struck by this longhorn cow at the Rural Life Museum in Baton Rouge and the way his eyes latched on and watched me as I took his picture. It made me realize how precious eyesight is. It enables us to appreciate the world of beauty around us.

sight

give me vision

give me extreme sight

give me a soul

to know wrong from right

let me see

what is there

let me see

beyond material

beyond me

sight to see

the colors all around

sight to free

those who are earthly bound

by sight that refuses

to be one with what they see

by vision that fails

to encompass clarity.

eyes to see

eyes to see

brain to think

ears to hear

mouth to drink

blindfolded

cannot see through

glasses fail to work

foggy and blurry

are no less a perk

perhaps it is better to see unclearly

than not to see at all

perhpas it is better to walk

even if we fall?
