Welcome to the rt tulley photography blogIt features photos, text, and poetry.December 20Kisses
I am thankful for kisses. Although very simple in phsical prowess, kisses between two lovers is one of the most intimate expression of love. Kissing between friends and family is an expression of love and caring. There's not much to say except that kisses are special.
This is my daughter Beth kissing her cousin Jessie's and his wife Brooke's baby, Madeleine. Madeleine lover her Aunt Beth!
kiss
he asked her for just one little kiss as he stood at the top of the stair standing in the moonlight mist he gazed at her so young and fair her mascara was running down as he tasted the salt of her tears she was supposed to be happy and not cry as he faced head on all of his fears no it’s not you she said it’s only a problem with me for i’ve long wanted such a kiss but something not for free for i must pay for one the value of its worth to me that would be a sum i’ve never had from birth he looked at her and smiled with this comforting thought you are worth millions on your own so if you exchange yourself that kiss has been bought so she took his hand and together they remain a kiss bought and paid for was their ultimate gain. © rt tulley
December 19Tranquility
I am thankful for tranquility. Tranquility is defined as peaceful, restful, or peace of mind. I like the latter definition. When we are tranquil, we are usually quite mellow and have complete peace of mind. It is nice to be in that state of restfulness after going through life's hectic stress.
This is City Park Lake in Baton Rouge, looking out at one of my favorite cypress trees. It is also a favorite roosting place for these birds who look like they are very tranquil at the moment the camera captured this view.
tranquility
tranquility base was a perfect place to get away from it all but there was no air and little gravity so man could not fall on the moon they played their tune the men walked around but there was little else to do and if they shouted out there was little sound so they planted their flag with wires so it wouldn’t sag and went on their merry way back home to earth for less merriment and mirth but not as bored you could say. © rt tulley
December 18Christmas Season
I am thankful for Christmas season. Christmas is my favorite time of the year. And although I tend to drag my feet early on, later on I jump in head first. There is no happier time than Christmas. I love the idea of giving gifts to the people you care about. And the most fun is to try to personalize those gifts for the particular person. It sends an extra special message of "I really care for you."
This is a photo I took at a nursery exhibiting Christmas trees and decorations. This was one of the trees. The photo below was taken of my across-the-street neighbor's holly tree. I used multiple exposures with selective focusing to try to bring out a wider range of "in focus" areas.
christmas season
such a special holiday meaningful and full of so much heart where love and giving take center court december from a november start when crazy grandmas can be seen in a mad dash to claim a marked down gift shoving and pushing toward clash so however a special and meaningful day causes in us conflicting behavior perhaps it is simply because we forget it’s for our wondrous savior. © rt tulley
December 17Kids
I am thankful for kids. Kids always have a brutal honesty and aren't generally as uptight as adults. They know how to have fun. I love kids of all ages. I enjoy watching them learn new things - the love of learning is so evident in them. And for that reason, I enjoy watching them grow up and seeing them realize their potential, and sometimes, if you're fortunate, help them get there.
This photo is of myself and Tori, my nephew Jessie's five year old step daughter. We were dancing at the Brew Unto Others Coffee House at our church last Friday. Tori's mom, Brooke, took this photo of us using my camera. Good picture, Brooke!
Here's a poem on this subject that I wrote for a project Anne Wolfe and I are working on:
When I Look in the Mirror
When I look in the mirror I know I’m all wrinkled and gray I know a few years have gone by the way But when I look in my brain don’t you know I see a little kid who forgot to grow I see a kid who’s work is really play He likes to imagine and to write for his pay So let me keep pretending and stay young at heart I’ll keep a blind eye out and forget the age part When they say I am elderly I look at them and scold I tell them I’m young, not aged I’m only kid-ty years old. © rt tulley December 16Harmony
I am thankful for harmony. Musically, harmony refers to the blending of notes, either instruments or vocals, in a pleasing manner to create chords that have a richness or fullness. I love harmony. I think that is why I enjoy the Bee Gees and singing in the choir at church, both of which stress harmonies. Harmony is derived from the Greek work which refers to joint, agreement, and concord. In human relations, harmony means that people are a oneness in thought and deed; ie., they get along very well. It is interesting that in harmony there are different notes which blend and sound good together. In harmonious human relations, different people, different ideas, merge together to form a constructive relationship. So being in harmony does not mean there is always agreement but it means that differences blend together well and compliment one another.
This photo was taken at my church's Friday evening coffeehouse Brew Unto Others. Zach Hartman and JEssica Hubbard sang and played with the band that entertained during the coffee house. The coffee house director, Darren Kimball, is on drums.
harmony
in the course of human relationships there are those good and those bad you could say the positive ones are in harmony and the others are just sad sometimes when i try to sing it can be said of me there can be no artful blending when i sing out of key. © rt tulley
